About Dragon's Crystal Reverie and Me
Hello, my name is Alyce Love and I'm the
owner and proprietor of Dragon's Crystal Reverie.
At this time we are a web based e-commerce
business but hopefully, soon,
it will become a physical store front.
Well, a little about me and my love of rocks, crystals and pretty much all minerals. When I was a child, my sister and I learned to appreciate rocks when we visited our mother's Aunt. Each time we visited her we were allowed to choose one agate (I just found out they were beautiful Montana Agates) from a bowl she had on her coffee table. My sister and I would sit down on the floor and spend hours looking through those stones. We would choose which one we would take home that day, and then the next visit and the next, though our choices changed often. We would enjoy the shape, size and color of those stones.
As we grew up we saw many more stones and crystals and enjoyed the beauty in each of them. I have had many collections of rocks over the years and today I can say my collection is huge. I collected many on my journey (see more about that below) as well as just picking them up wherever I go.
I have had the opportunity to go to the Rainbow Ridge Opal Mine in Virgin Valley, Nevada a few times, and sort through their "tailings". What happens, at Rainbow Ridge, is that the owners of the mine take a tractor and scrape off the side of a hill, which has opals in it. They look through what comes off to see what opals they can find, after they feel they have found what they want they use the tractor again and push the "tailings" off into a field and then we can sort through them ourselves and find some fantastic opals that were missed. I have found some fantastic opalized wood (and fairly large) and other beautiful pieces of opal that I have on display in my home. It is a very dirty, dusty job but I can say it was well worth it and enjoyable to me. It has been many years since I was there, but if you want information on visiting Virgin Valley for yourself, please just ask.
The vision of Dragon's Reverie (reverie means daydream) took many years to come to fruition and bloom. About two years ago I added the word Crystal to the name so it is now Dragon's Crystal Reverie.
I took a journey, to visit a few friends from the past and also visited many that I had met online as well. It started in November and ended in January 1999. It was 6 weeks of driving, alone, across the United States. On that trip I visited 30 states and visited a few rock shops along the way. I took many pictures of the scenery and if you would like to see them, here is a link to the site I created.
My Journey Among The Clouds
On that trip I started buying a few minerals to start selling, and have kept buying what catches my eye. I like the more unique and unusual stones as well as trying to do my best to find reasonably priced stones to pass along. I worked in a small store that sold some wonderful stones and when the owner, my Reiki Master, passed away I bought all the rocks from that store. That pretty much gave Dragon's Crystal Reverie a boost towards becoming a "real" business. I created the web site over a period of time and it is now what it is today.
If you would like to see some of the pictures I took along my Journey, you are welcome to visit the web site I created. Just click on the link below and enjoy!
